Eating Disorders
20 years of experience treating Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Binge-Eating Disorder. People experience ED symptoms for complex reasons – binging, purging, restricting, eating to numb ourselves, obsessive thoughts, body dysmorphia, and so forth – and these reasons must be considered in healing effectively. People may do the same action for very different reasons, and thus the treatment must be different. Cutting edge research is used as the evidence base for eating disorder treatment.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
(DBT)
DBT is a treatment for pervasive and chronic emotional dysregulation, often associated with Borderline Personality Disorder. Dialectical strategies are used with mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients reduce suffering from emotional dysregulation.
EMDR(Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing)
A very specific type of therapy to help people suffering symptoms of PTSD and difficult experience. With EMDR, the client adaptively reorganizes their experiences in an accelerated manner.
Trauma and Complex Trauma
A traumatic experience can be defined as any event in which our ability to cope effectively was overwhelmed.† Complex trauma is when traumatic experience has been normal rather than abnormal. Complex Trauma is most common for people who were abused, neglected, or had similar experiences in childhood.
Consultation and Supervision
20 years experiences with training and supervision of other professionals across licensure: physicians, psychologists, counselors, social workers, marriage and family therapists, nurse practitioners, nurses, dietitians and others. Training in therapeutic process, group process, DBT, behavioral interventions, cognitive behavioral therapy, gestalt therapy, Developmental Somatic Psychotherapy.
